Some of the most meaningful moments in ministry begin with a simple conversation.
On a clear Sunday afternoon, our outreach team had the privilege of meeting Antonio. Although he greeted us with a warm smile, it was evident that he carried a heavy heart. Antonio shared that he and his fiancée were experiencing homelessness. As they prepared to welcome their first child, due in October, they found themselves praying for hope, encouragement, and help during a very difficult season.
Before asking for anything we had brought, Antonio made one request: “Would you pray with me?”
That simple request spoke volumes. He already knew something about the Lord and understood the power of prayer, but like so many people facing life’s hardships, he needed reassurance that God had not forgotten him. Together, we prayed, asking the Lord to provide for their needs, strengthen their faith, protect their growing family, and remind them that He is always present.
After praying, we were able to provide Antonio with two sleeping bags, clothing, a care package, and a pocket Bible. As we talked, there was a noticeable change in his countenance. The burden he carried seemed lighter, replaced by a renewed sense of hope and peace.
Before we parted ways, I assured Antonio that he would not be forgotten. It was truly an honor to meet such a kind and humble man who was sincerely searching for answers and open to the hope that can only be found through Jesus Christ.
At Hart To Hart Ministries, we believe every person has a story, every life has value, and every encounter is an opportunity to share the love of Christ. Antonio reminded us that sometimes the greatest gift we can offer isn’t found in a bag of supplies—it’s found in taking the time to pray, to listen, and to remind someone that God sees them, loves them, and has not abandoned them.
“Changing lives, one heart at a time…”
